Bridges San Francisco is based at 44 Montgomery Street in the Financial District and serves young adults ages 17 to 26 with barriers to employment across San Francisco. The program partners with San Francisco Unified School District to identify students who can benefit from career readiness support and to coordinate transition planning with school staff.
Founded in 1990, Bridges San Francisco is one of the longest-running sites in the Bridges network. For more than three decades, the program has prepared young adults with disabilities for competitive employment, placed them with Bay Area employers, and stayed involved through their first year on the job.
Bridges San Francisco partners with the SF Department of Children, Youth and Their Families and other local organizations to support career preparation, placement, and on-the-job follow-along across the city. The program operates in coordination with Bridges Oakland and Bridges Richmond to extend the network's reach across the broader Bay Area.
Like every Bridges site, the San Francisco program is free for participants and their families. A Youth Employment Specialist works one-on-one with each young adult to identify career goals, develop interviewing skills, connect with employers, create a résumé, apply for jobs, get a job, and succeed in a job. After a placement, the same specialist supports the new hire through the first year of employment, coordinating with the employer's HR team and following up at 30, 60, and 90-day milestones. The program is funded through grants, donations, and corporate giving. There is no tuition, and no fee to the employer.
The San Francisco office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
