Overview
The DC Bridges program originally began in 1991.Currently, the program serves young adults ages 17–26 throughout the DC Metro area, including Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland’s Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
Bridges staff members, known as Youth Employment Specialists, work with young adults individually and in groups to identify career goals, develop interviewing skills, connect with employers, create a résumé, apply for jobs, get a job, and succeed in a job. Youth Employment Specialists work closely with each young person, providing instruction, guidance, and mentoring that increases confidence, builds character, and enhances professionalism.
