How We’re Supported
Core Support: The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation
Bridges is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established by members of the Marriott family, and one they continue to support with funds from The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation. This support is provided with the understanding that it will be leveraged to generate additional monies. For every $1.00 contributed to Bridges by the Marriott family, another $1.50 is generated from others, including governmental organizations, corporations, foundations, and individuals.
Grants, Contracts, and Contributions
Contributing organizations allow Bridges to expand our reach and support more youth. We receive grants and contracts from the U.S. Departments of Education and Labor; local school systems; workforce investment boards; and departments of children, youth, and families. We also receive contributions from private foundations and corporations. We actively seek and secure funding, submitting competitive proposals that underscore the value of our approach, the talent of our staff, and the strength of our management.
The total cost of Bridges from School to Work’s Workforce Pathways for Youth program is $10,214,702 over three years. $3,294,240 (32.25%) is funded through a U.S. Department of Labor – Employment and Training Agency grant. The other $6,920,462 (67.75%) is funded through non-Federal resources.
The Bridges Annual Gala
Each year, Richard Marriott hosts a gala to celebrate Bridges’ successes and to generate funds for future programming. The gala has become a much-anticipated evening in Washington, D.C.—an entertaining and inspiring night to support Bridges and the young adults we serve. See a current list of the 2026 gala contributors.
Private Donations
Bridges is grateful to have the support of thousands of individual donors whose gifts allow us to reach more youth in need. You may donate directly to Bridges.
